Your work and well-being are always ALGA’s priority. ALGA is pivoting operations and services in response to the Coronavirus/COVID-19 pandemic. Our hearts are heavy for those affected by this terrible disease and our deepest gratitude goes to those on the front lines responding to the crisis.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has helpful information on their website.
Many offices have now moved to mandatory telework. See this article for tips on how to move to a fully distributed audit team. Contact Kymber Waltmunson, ALGA Communications Liaison and King County Auditor, if you want help problem-solving this new, hopefully very temporary, normal.
We announce cancellation of the 2020 conference with deep regret, but are honored to participate in this act of social solidarity supporting your health and that of vulnerable people. If you were registered for the conference you should have received a full refund for registration fees. Please contact Member Services if this has not happened. You will need to cancel your travel plans and hotel arrangements if you were staying at a different hotel. There is a task force identifying ways to offer more CPE this year.
As of March 13 all peer reviews are suspended. There will be several audit organizations that will not meet current deadlines as a result. GAO has granted ALGA the authority to extend peer reviews for any audit organization whose review is affected by the COVID-19 outbreak up to an additional six months. Impacted shops now have up to a year and three months past their review period to complete reviews. If you have any questions, please contact Paul Geib or Stan Sewell from the Peer Review Committee.
ALGA does not have any regional training events planned until fall. We will continue to monitor national and regional guidance around in-person meetings for those locations.
