Submit Your Topics and Ideas by September 30!

The 2019 ALGA Conference Committee is looking for speakers to present at our next conference in Kansas City, Missouri on May 5-8, 2019. The conference will be held at The Westin Kansas City at Crown Center. Keep reading to get:

We are looking for ideas and presenters for general and concurrent sessions, and pre- and post-conference workshops. The request for presentations is open through September 30, 2018.

 

What presentation topics are of interest?

Subjects that interest members include:

  • Analytical tools
  • Fraud
  • Effectively working with stakeholders
  • Audit workforce issues
  • IT audit and cybersecurity
  • Increasing the impact of our work
  • Diversity, equity, and inclusion
  • Complying with audit standards
  • Emerging and classic audit topics

Your suggestions do NOT have to fit within these areas. We encourage you to propose your engaging, unique, and creative ideas as well as your innovative presentation approaches.
 
We will continue to offer the FAST (For Auditors Short on Time) presentation format. It is a lot of fun. The theme for 2019 is diversity, equity, and inclusion and will be a mix of ways to audit this issue and personal stories and experiences. Please complete the proposal form if you want to be a FAST presenter. We will give you all the support you need to make it FAST!


How will proposals be selected for conference presentation? 
Some of the things we will consider when reviewing presentation proposals and ideas include:

  • Compelling topics with direct relevance to the ALGA audience
  • Speaker knowledge and understanding of the topic
  • Public speaking strength
  • Actionable audit tools and techniques
  • Innovative presentation approaches that focus on interactivity or employ other key elements of effective adult learning
  • Topics that respond to member interest (please do not limit yourself to the subject areas mentioned above!)
  • Diversity of presenters

 
What are the components of the presentation proposal form?

Propose your topic using our online form. The form includes the following required fields:

  • Primary speaker information and contact information
  • Additional speaker or co-presenter information and contact information
  • Indicate if you are a past ALGA speaker
  • Speaker bio (not to exceed 150 words), including past speaking experience
  • Social media names/links where you are active (e.g. Twitter, LinkedIn)
  • Session audience
  • Title of proposed session and abstract 
  • Type/length of session
